The Pile of Shame Warpact

If I'm home, I'm playing WoW, but that doesn't mean I can't work on the smallest members of my pile when I'm on the go!

Right now I'm playing Sword of Mana, and liking it a lot more than I thought I would or probably should. The story is ok, and I like the neat little graphic effects that pop up here and there. The gameplay is simple to the point of being insulting, but I'm still enjoying it. Should be done soon =D

GBA

Bought and finished LoZ: the Minish Cap. Didn't get 100%, but I wasn't enjoying the kinstone system at all so that's ok.

Finally sat down with and beat Contra: the Alien Wars EX on Easy and then Normal. Not even close to ever being hard... it's a little odd but I liked it.

Beat Final Fantasy 1, by the end it was almost torture.

Still have to beat: FF2, Advanced Wars 1 and 2, Rayman Advanced (launch game??), Super Ghouls and Ghosts, Blackthorne, Fire Emblem, F-Zero, and I never did unlock all the tracks in Mario Kart =X

While it's still an amazing game, the touch screen controls bothers me enough to have never beat Mario 64 =/

Buying Kirby tonight, HOLLA. I think that's going to be my main portable game until it's done.

And that's it. There's a few more GBA games I'm sure that I forgot to list, but I think my portable library is manageable for now.

Curious that you burnt out on FF1. I played through FF2 (origins) not too long ago and really enjoyed it. But when I started playing FF1, I quickly put it down. FF2 had enough extra stuff to make it more interesting, whereas 1 was just a repeat of something I'd beaten (multiple times) a looooooooooong time ago.

FF2 was like the carrot on a stick for my FF1 run. I'd started the game on NES and PS and just never beat it, so I figured I'd do the easy GBA one with the magic revamp at least.

Then I burnt out on RPGs and played and beat Contra and Advanced Guardian Heroes, which I forgot to list =O

Speaking of RPG burnout, I should probably finish ToD 2. I was at (what I think is) the final dungeon of that game, and just have to go through it. I walked into the last area and was like: "Gee...another....final...dungeon....."

*turns off PS2*

*puts TOD2 in the closet*

So yeah, it won't take much to finish it.

Finished FFT. Absolutely superb game. Makes FFTA even more disappointing. I can't believe this game hasn't recieved a proper sequel, even if it isn't 'fft', and it's just another really good game.

Funny that the major story was really more about Delita than the 'main' character.

Alright, I'm finally tossing my hat into this ring. In the last two weeks I've been going back and finally polishing off a number of titles that I stopped playing anywhere from one hour in to 30 hours in or right before the final boss. I just beat ZOE2 tonight (I had died a few times at the final ship of the huge fleet battle and just... never went back), Star Ocean 3 a few days ago (I stopped at about 20 hours of play months ago because my party was pussified and I couldn't beat a string of bosses and was too weak to level up in the dungeon I was stuck in), Jade Empire (stopped playing for no real reason), and so on.

My current list that I'm looking to put work into/polish off (I'm probably missing some that I'll add later):

GBA
FFTA - Probably like 15 hours in, haven't touched it in god only knows how long
Shaman King: Master of Spirits - I think I'm only a couple levels away from the end
Boktai - Loved this game but it being released during the winter made me put it away and I've yet to return
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories - Still need to do at least another series of levels
Astro Boy - Stopped on the last level because the enemies take forever to kill and it grew really annoying

PS2
Xenosaga II - Just started
GT4 - I've only played it for a few hours and I really want to put more time into it
Silent Hill 4 - Maybe a third of the way through
BoF: Dragon Quarter - Been meaning to do another run through with my old save
Rygar - Stopped playing during what I think is one of the final bosses
Gungrave Overdose - Stopped for no real reason
ChainDive - Same as above
Disgaea - Debating whether to have this on here, as while I loved what little I played I have such a hard time playing SRPGs on consoles

Xbox
Phantom Dust - Stopped for no real reason

P.N.03 - Was in the middle of getting the ultimate suit and just stopped
Resident Evil 4 - Social problems completely took away my want to play any videogames in the middle of this game and I've yet to go back and finish it
MGS:TS - Never played through a second time for the alternate item
F-Zero GX/AX - Never finished the courses

PSP
Wipeout Pure - I'm only on the third class, I at least want the final class unlocked

PC
Far Cry - Stopped playing early on in the mutant attacks
WoW - I want to get at least one of my characters to 60
MxO - I want to get my character to 50 (or whatever the level cap is)

FFTA is *really* easy. And you can shorten the game if you choose, just follow the main 'story' (har) missions and you'll get through it more quickly. Otherwise, there are something around 300 missions total that you can eat up time with.

Dragon Quarter is pretty cool, but I didn't feel any burning desire to replay it after I beat it.

Rygar is really short (as long as you don't distract yourself by being a masonry demolitionist expert), if you're at the last boss, polish it off. Last few levels were gorgeous, shame the game didn't have more stuff.

Gungrave OD is intensely mediocre. I'd salebait that one. It didn't have nearly the style of the first imo, and the first wasn't a super cool game gameplay wise...

Disgaea will pwn you timewise, though the main story isn't super long. I don't like the focus it has in some gameplay areas, I prefer FFT/TO style I think.

Phantom Dust is just... cool. It has a really unique style. Main game isn't too long either. Not a half bad story, to my surprise.

I punted PN03 just recently. In fact, I need to go deplete my shame stack thanks to that :D

I'm genuinely ashamed of having FZero on my pile :( I did play it quite a bit, but not nearly to what I'd consider to completion. Just distracted by work/other crap around the time it came out I guess.

Far Cry - same spot. It just got annoying for me. Partly because the AI was so vulnerable to really stupid tricks. Played Painkiller instead. More fun, less pretentious :D

I know, it just didn't feel anywhere near as good as the first. I'd still like to finish it off at least once, though, even if I don't touch the alternate characters.

It's just that I started getting close to 60... and then stopped playing for like two months. Then I started up again, realized I no longer liked the play style of my current character so started over with a couple others. Then I stopped again a few weeks ago and haven't touched it since. I know MMOs are kinda funky to have on a pile of shame, especially because they can't be beat, but I went into them with goals and have yet to achieve those goals.

Crap, looking at Yoshi's list just reminded me of a few PC games I forgot about:
The Longest Journey
Grim Fandango
Tron 2.0
Planescape Torment

In fact, I might even still have a couple of those installed despite not touching any of them in at least half a year.

Weekend update, post your progress!

Lots of housecleaning for me, inspired by Mas' (actual) housecleaning, I gathered up and disposed of a bunch of games that I either finished and didn't get rid of, or had no intention of playing again. My Pile is down to 16 games, the lowest its been in ages. I have very few games left now. What's sort of disturbing to me is how few games I've picked up in the last <long period of time>. That'd be a long ranty post though, so I'll skip that.

I used the proceeds to pick up a DS on the word that the screen(s) were better for GBA games (which turned out to be true). I also got Meteos and Kirby, but more on those later (it'd be another ranty post)

Played a bunch of Eternal Mana, which, while very attractive graphically and audiowise, is a bit lacking in the difficulty department. As in, at all.

Not much more progress on Shame games though, minus clearing out the pile a bit. That last strategy rpg rampage was a good one though, and I'm glad I did - both Tactics Ogre games were excellent, and FFT was also excellent. FFTA, not so much.

Man, it is going to take me hours to catalog all the games that I need to get through. (I'm secretly excited at the prospect of getting my list ready)
