DOA: Ultimate Official Thread

Just got this, played for an hour, unlocked Bayman and his costumes because he is the only character I LOVE to play with.

Thoughts on Bayman (Pretending DOA2 never happened, as if this is a pseudo-sequel to DOA3):

I HATE the lack of advanced counters for Bayman. I hate that I can't do his most devastating combo, it has now been set back to 3 different splintered combos. I hate that his Combo throws are now harder to do. I hate that his normal mid kick counter is now reversed, I find myself just always doing the additional advanced counter movement because of this. Also, it seems like the limbo stun doesn't last as long now, so my best combos are cut almost in half. Also, no ground throw with his legs.

They have completely castrated him. While this makes the game MUCH more balanced as he was definitely too powerful, I wish they had put more of his moveset in and just turned down the damage.

(I didn't play DOA2 very much, so don't bother telling me I'm just reiterating problems the character had that were fixed in 3.)

Other than my stupid lil rant, this game is great.

I don't think I'll ever dominate this game like I did DOA3. I've never met anybody who could beat me even 10% of the time in 3, but I have a feeling I'll be getting taken down a lot online in this one. On the up side, smarter AI, better balance, tons of locales, live play. This is shaping up to be the best fighter released this year.

PS: We are gonna have to agree to disagree XX fans.

PPS: $39.99 at Frys. If you don't live near a Frys you really should move.

Just gone done playing this online for an hour or so. Nothing like a 11 year old brat talking shit and then dropping out to get you outta the mood for online play.

I haven't played online yet. How do they handle droppers? Tell me they did SOMETHING.

Not that rankings mean anything anyway. Apparently, some of the top ranked players suck and just loading room with friends who lose to them on purpose in order to build their rank.

Although, in retrospect, it's pretty funny that this pre-pubecent foul mouthed brat had the gamer tag BUSTACAPUPYOAS.

If someone drops on you, you win by default and all the dropping statistics are maintained. I'm not sure if low reliability affects how many points you get for winning/losing.

Question!!! I got stuck in a room, cause it was just me and another guy so I couldn't quit without dropping WTF. Why do I have to pause and then end session to quit? Is there another way? Crap...

Anyway, I'm getting better (just realized you can counter by hitting forward and free LOL). I still think the counter system isn't very tight, it should be instant, like parrying in 3S...it seems sloppy at times, but that could be because I need to learn 3-D countering versus 2-D countering, though the clash in SC2 is much easier to use IMO...my wife mostly plays online...but she's getting better too...even though our rank is horrid...

Palette swap costumes = teh suck. Leifang's different colored cheongsams all count as different costumes? LAME.

Also, one of the hard level costumes you unlock for Hitomi is the same Xbox one you earn in normal difficulty... but with stockings. OOH. :mad:

Lets put this into perspective though, it isn't pallette swapping. It is completely different patterns/colors and maybe even a different bump-mapping with the same polygonal model. Not exactly the color you chose for your character in Street Fighter.
