if you'd actually read the site you would have noted that those were the pre-qualifying polls, and the one in question was specifically to pick which entry into the "soul ____" series would be representing it in the final brackets. VF4E was part of the competition from the get-go, because it's the obvious best game in the series.

as for it having to do with forum registrations, it doesn't. it has to do with pageviews, because pages serve ads and ads make money. =P sometimes the most obvious explanation (business want to make money) is the best one!

Arghh.. I can't decide, Alucard and Claire are both such pretty girls.

I voted Resident Evil 2. I consider it to be the best in the series, it definetly lived up to the hype after it got canned that first time, the zapping system was novel (And actually WORKED!), Hunk, Tofu and all the other extras were great...It was just a very well put together game. Also, having just played through it again a few weeks ago, I can say confidently that it has stood the test of the time.

As for SOTN? Eh, I was never impressed with it. I like my Castlevania to be more like Castlevania, not like Metroid. Platforming over leveling, whips over swords.

Considering that all the characters and items were easy to see because they were sharper and brighter with a higher resolution then the backgrounds, no. They always stood out like they were pasted on.

Also, if you remember, the first videos released of REmake which most people thought were polygonal didn't have any character models in them. They were just clips of a bunch of backgrounds, like a teaser trailer.
