I'd say the problem is that you can prevent people from marrying but you can't stop them from making babies.

Which is dumb. Child-rearing should not be something you think of when you think of marriage or vice-versa. If two people live together as though they are married and have children, how is that any different from being married? Getting married to have children is a wrong reason.

Are you of the belief that gays can't raise children as well as heteros? I have a dire view on the way children are being raised nowadays, so my view on that is slanted.

No Im not. Actually I have no idea. Not enough studies have been done on the subject. It's totally possible they are better. But it's also totally possible they are worse.

Anyway, Mike, the point is that nobody is saying here "Okay, so we let gays get married, which means they can have joint custody of a child - how will they bring up that child?". This is a question that NEEDS to be asked, but nobody's asking it and even less people can answer it.
