Actually I've seen him right out state that it would not be similar to Rez because he found Rez to be pretty basic. Panzer Dragoon with Tron graphics is how I think he referred to it.

He's also stated that he had the concept for Unity years before Rez ever came out, he was just waiting for the hardware to be capable of doing what he had in mind.

Yeah, he said he wrote the design doc years back.

It reminds me of Internal Section or N2O on PSX, personally. I'm not seeing a rez influence.

I thought for sure there were one or two third party controllers with jacks in them. I know that it was planned for the M2 controllers to have jacks in them as standard.

I know for a fact that the BM DJ Pro tables do have phone jacks in them so I'm not completely off-base.

Now that I've thought about it, Xbox Live headsets work though controllers, and mics for the Xbox as well as the DC and N64 run through them as well.

But they're not carrying CD-quality sound or anything even close.

I really think that Minter would have designed this on the Xbox if he cared about custom music selection. Picking a console based on ease of development and then creating some ass-backwards way of importing music files just doesn't make any sense.

Yeah, no reason why you couldn't design a control port with an audio in/out. The question is whether the Cube control port has such a line or something that can be used as one.

The original Panasonic 3D0 controller had a headphone jack on it. I never used it but I thought it was a neat option.

Am I the only one who thinks it's funny as hell that he had to explain that the phrase "otter spunk" won't actually appear in the game? :)

...is classic.

Perhaps there'll be a code that allows you to play with some hot otter spunk.

I remember hearing that there was a "Rude" build of Tempest 3000 with vulgar names for all the webs. Unfortunately it isn't buried anywhere in the released version of the game :(
