It's not a crime then, why now? It was "just a clump of cells" that are equatable to skin or nail cells by some, so how can I apply compounded punishment to the killer really and still maintain a straight face? You're forced into not acknowledging it in the interests of abortion rights and saying killing a pregnant woman, or a non-pregnant woman are both equal crimes under the law deserving the same punishment. That's where the ghoulish factor comes in for me.
