World of Warcraft: Beta Begins

So has no one else made it in ?

I've been playing the last few days... it's kind of cool. It's way better than Star Wars Galaxies anyway.

Damn it I want in.

Please - and tell us what the combat system is like. Is it just auto-fight once you've engaged with an enemy or can you actually control movements whilst in combat?

It's autocombat, like every other MMORPG.

Well, it's not a fighting game, or a side-scrolling beat-em up if that's what you're asking. Once you initiate combat, it repeats the standard attack. You can fire one-off abilities and spells, and the order and timing of their use is reasonably important. Also, facing (just front and back) affects the ability to use certain special moves, like backstab.

Amazing, so it's exactly like FFXI.

Its exactly like every other MMORPG, and I don't know why anyone would ever expect otherwise. Because its Blizzard they say? Blizzard isn't known for reinventing genres; they're known for making them fun. You still gather supplies and build buildings in Warcraft, you're still going to have auto combat in WoW.
