I got into the second wave (whatever that means). They said in the next couple of weeks about two weeks ago, so should be sometime this month I'd guess.
Supposedly, the beta is going to last a good long time (another five months?), and the alpha has been running since november. No NDA on the beta and this long of an alpha/beta period are good things in my eyes, lack of significant innovations or no.
It's the Blizzard way... long betas, polished, fun products even if they aren't the most original games ever.
Grats on getting 2nd wave though, let us know what you think of course.

- The game seems more structured like a single player RPG... where there's more quests and story... in fact, I've had a lot of fun without a whole lot of other player interaction. The worlds are definitely metered out to you but without making it lame... while I'm still beating down on mountain side creatures, I didn't have to beat on like rats or bats for a few hours to start off.
- Character progression is quick for a few levels before grinding to a halt after the first 8 levels. It's actually annoying in a way... like you can't learn to use a bow or a gun until Level 20. Between Level 8 and 14, there's not a lot of new class skills you can train in. Crafting is slow and tedious, but it's not as bad as in Star Wars Galaxies.
- Overall, the game is really easy to get into. For a person like me who's never really been into an MMORPG, I managed to get in a play without needing a manual and having something accessible for me to do at all times.
Just wanted to give people who have applied a reminder... check your emails over the next few days...
The next push of the WoW beta is supposed to happen any day now, possibly tomorrow. This new push is All-Horde races (all the Alliance characters from this push will be locked for a month) so some of you who said All-Alliance sucked... your time is here ;)
On the downside, this is rumored to be the push where Blizzard tests out the new XP fatigue... *sigh*

Just as a heads up, servers are down, patches are coming through and the next push should begin soon.
I don't know how many more people may or may not get in, but if you're getting in this push, it'll happen like tonight or tomorrow.

Actually, leveling up crafts in WoW is less about repeatedly working and more about trying to find the materials necessary. I don't think macros would really help much.Quote:
