Davis DVD is reporting that Universal will be releasing Dawn of the Dead 2004 on October 5, 2004. There will be separate editions - one for the R rated cut (101 minutes) and another for the unrated cut (110 minutes).
They will be issued with 16x9 widescreen (as well as P&S) and contain DD5.1 tracks. Extras on the theatrical edition include feature commentary with director Zack Snyder and producer Eric Newman, 12 minutes of deleted scenes (with optional commentary), "The Lost Tape: Andy's Terrifying Last Days Revealed" DVD exclusive short film, "Special Bulletin: We Interrupt This Program!" broadcast news of the zombie invasions, "Surviving the Dawn" making-of featurette and trailers. The Unrated Director's Cut will include all those extras plus "Raising the Dead" makeup effects and "Attack of the Living Dead" memorable zombie kills featurettes, "Splitting Headaches: Anatomy of Exploding Heads" and DVD-ROM features. Retail is $29.98 apiece.
