Oh, okay. FFXI and Outbreak. Still not enough of a selling point. I wouldn't mind trying FFXI out, but the monthly fees are rediculous, the whole 'World Pass' thing is a load of crap, and when I played it at e3, the combat was 'realtime menu juggling'

Not cool.

As for Outbreak? I don't care enough about it to get a HDD for it.

No PVP = Fatal Flaw in an MMORPG. It's a major piece of gameplay. Basically, MMORPGs, have three main components: Player vs (NPC) Enemy, Player vs Player, and Crafting/Business. FFXI to my knowledge has one of the three.

Nope, just a new version of the DVD drivers. The ability to save your Memory card saves to the HDD and thats about it. None of the other talked about features made the trip. I'm a bit disspointed glad I didn't buy it yet.

Now someone needs to crack this puppy a la Xbox.

Looks like I won't be investing any money in it either then... At least, not until some sort of a track ripping utility pops up. As for that second thing, consider that pretty much done. I'm looking at you, PS2 Linux for the exact same price as FFXI.

what the heck are you talking about? there is a fairly robust crafting aspect to ff11.

I heard PVP was added to Final Fantasy XI, but it is limited to high level players and only certain areas... not great, but better then not having any I suppose :\

I'm fairly sure PVP hasn't been added yet... but I'm booting up XI now to check.

I don't think it's as crucial a part of an MMORPG experience as you say Yoshi. The game was fun to me and lots of other people for months/years without PVP, so... it must not be a required thing.

I do, however, think it makes for a better game... so it's definitely better when it's in there.

I've got too much time put into Ragnarok Online to just jump ship and play FFXI. That and the $100 price tag are big deterrants to me.

Replace Ragnarok Online with Dark Age of Camelot and I feel the same way as Chux. I havent played it in a while but everything thats good about mmorpg's is there if I feel the urge to fire it up. Crafting,grouping,massive areas/dungeons to explore, PVP action out the wang. As much as I want to give FF11 a try - its just not worth it at the moment. BUT if you've never tried MMORPG's I have heard that FF11 is a decent one so you may owe it to yourself to give it a shot so that you can form an opinion about the genre.

If you like it then , sweet it was worth the cash and you'll have some fun with it , if not - then you'll never waste money on another one again, I'm sure...

so i assume you can transfer a save to the hdd but not load it form the game. you have to put it back on the memory card right? so more of an archiving type of deal?

no media functions completely unsells this for me.

square has another expansion planned. i dont know if the actual PvP will be implemented in this or in the next update.
