You really need to get your hands on a trial now that the combat upgrade is live. It addressed a lot of what you just mentioned.Quote:

So whats the deal with this game? </Seinfeld>
Is it structured like Diablo, where you go into the world in parties of 4 or whatever? I think the official GW site (I was reading it yesterday) is intentionally vague on the structure of it because they want people to buy it thinking theyre getting a MMO experience without a fee.
It's like Diablo, except instead of the BattleNet chatroom/lobby, you have a town where hundreds of characters mill around. From there you can group up and pick instances to go into.
I played a few of the earlier betas. It was an ok-slightly above average experience. To be honest, the graphics weren't any better than Dungeon Seige with some bloom lighting .. which is a few years old now.
I just ran a few instances, and didn't do any PvP. So, others would have more to offer on that.
From what I understand, there are two major portions of the game. PvE and PvP.Quote:

PvP is very different. You're not allowed to play with your PvE character, and I think the PvP char is unable to level-up, so it's a skill-based deathmatch kinda thing. The meat of the game comes from choosing a set of skills (you can have 8 at once) that will mesh with your other party members. Seems pretty interesting..
Sounds like PSO with a pvp system
As long as the game rules like Diablo and doesn't suck like PSO then I'm interested.
Played some 4 on 4 arena matches and my team was undefeated, mainly because I would rush ahead, the other team would think I was an easy mark and dump all their attacks on me, only to discover that with the combo of my vamp and healing powers I couldn't be killed. And before they knew it, they'd be dead. :)
What I like about GW mainly is the fast pace of the gameplay and how it's really about selecting and using your skills effectively instead of just having the highest level and the best stuff. One of the people that kept showing up in the arena matches was a 9th level monk, while our team was 6 on average. It should have been a sizable advantage, but the guy was wasting his energy on crap like mending and getting toasted when he didn't even have the power to heal himself.
Yeah, this is the hotness. Kinda wish my characters kept thier levels and whatnot from the beta. Oh well. Im still messing around in Old Ascalon with my mes/monk Lilith Mephisto if anyone is interested in joining up.
