1480 on the SAT scores released today
I do better on SAT2s than SAT1s, I've never gotten below 750 on any SAT2 (I took 4 of them), but SAT1s always spoil things for me. I've only taken two APs (Bio and Art History), got 5s on both but just about everyone else I talked to did too.
I really hope they do a better job designing the new SAT1s, because it is frustrating to study for things that you will probably never use in high school or college.
I got a 1280 on mine. No studying and I was drinking the night before with some friends.
I have no regrets.

Money, mainly. What is the point of getting accepted to Yale or Harvard if you can not afford the thirty-five grand a year to go there and they will not front you any money? Or maybe he just does not give a damn about the "prestiege" of the schools. You do not go there for a superior education -- you go there for the people you would associate with. Yale and Harvard will make your parents pay for it if your parents are able to - if your parents are not able to, Yale and Harvard (and the rest of the ivies) will give you all of the loans and grants you need.
The prestige of the schools allow you to get all sorts of jobs that are basically closed to you if you go to one of the less prestigious schools.
If I worked a bit harder in high school I could easily be in Yale right now. Its really one of my regrets that I didnt.
The schools do have a superior education though. They can afford to pay the smartest people in the world the high salaries they demand. I know a lot of people like to say shit like "it dont matter where you go to school, Calculus is Calculus and Shakespeare is Shakespeare" or whatever, but its just not true. I transferred from NJIT to UCLA and the difference in quality of education, and quality of people, and opportunities, is enormous, and I dont doubt that there is a simialr leap when you jump from UCLA to Washington University or Stanford or whatever.Quote:

This is something that I think everyone should know: there are a lot of companies that only hire people who graduated from Ivies or schools ranked alongside ivies (top 20 UN News and World Report Schools, basically).
It doesn't matter if you got a 4.0 at a very good but less prestigious school (say Brandeis), and the guy next to you got a 3.0 at a top 20 school - a lot of places are only interested in interviewing the guy who went to the top 20 place.
DiffX - UCLA is a fine school, and is in that top-20 area on the West Coast, at least. That's where you're going, right?
Is Washington University any good? I didn't know that. I don't know if the quality of the education at the 'top tier' schools is any better than the education at the 'second tier' schools. I went to Brandeis for one semester and I thought my professors were excellent - the problem was that a lot of the kids I was going to school with treated the place like a safety school and slacked off because they hadn't made it into their first choice.
When you're applying to colleges in high school, try to get into the most prestigious school possible. All of the other stuff will fall together.
