Def Jam Vendetta 2 announced (Update 4/7 - screens now included!)
The first one, brought to us by EA and Aki, was a surpringsly really fun wrestling title, but in the end it didn't have nearly enough options to keep wrestling fans playing for long. The theme might not be for everyone, but for those of you who looked past it you found a fun, fast paced, over the top wrestler that made every slam and punch feel like it hurt.
Gamespot says....
Quote:
Def Jam Vendetta II will see players assuming the role of a ruthless NYC street fighter battling for control of the hip-hop underground, and boasts an all-new fighting engine that allows players to customize multiple fighting styles as they progress through the game. Over 70 characters will feature in Def Jam Vendetta II, including over 35 hip-hop personalities such as Busta Rhymes, Lil' Kim, Ludacris, Method Man, Redman, Slick Rick, Snoop Dogg, and Carmen Electra.
I'm a little bit worried because of this whole business about "fighting styles", as the first one was a wrestling title and now this one seems to be more of a brawler. The three pics on Gamespot's site make it seem like more of free for all type game, when the first one was pretty damn good as a wrestling title.
The first one is around 10-20 dollars now, and it's decent fun for what it is. There's only about 10 or so rappers in the first title, and the rest are all made up characters, so you can play as a priest, boxer, bouncer, some weird voodoo guy, and even a wannabe.
Interrested to see how this one turns out, since the fans wanted more of the same with alot of added options, but it seems AKI is going in a completely different direction =/
