Actually I did say I found this game underwhelming if you read up a few posts, but I enjoy the gameplay and level design quite a bit. It's just... very rough around the edges, IMO. I felt the same way about Tiny Toons, though that game has grated on me more as time goes on, where this one seems to be gradually growing on me.

The "fuck you" was for forgetting Gunstar heroes, Alien Soldier, Mischeif Makers, Bangai-O and all their other great non-shmups, not just astro boy, btw, and don't take it to harsh, now.

in every Treasure thread EVER, you can always count on them citing Stretch Panic as "the worst game ever" while conveniently forgetting Treasure's other games..

then, when a less than spectacular game comes out of Treasure, the starved haters jump all over it and declare it "Stretch Panic all over again"..

Hey, same problems I had with it, where the fuck were you when I was the ONLY one in the Astro Boy thread who disliked it?

Is it opposite world where I live? I'm just wondering because I just beat AGH and I only saw slowdown a few times throughout the entire game and it never affected my play, which is the opposite of both how Astro Boy was and apparently the experience of all the reviewers.

In any case, it's a good game, I liked it a lot. The backgrounds were pretty ass, the floating magic circle racing along a highway being a definite low point of design for the company, and that final level was a big pile of blah. The story was also weak in comparision to the first one and there's no way to skip cut-scenes after you've seen them (which also annoyed me in Astro Boy), and no multiple paths and shortness seem missing after the first game. However, the deflect is really cool and the regular combat is a lot of fun, the homing aspect of attacking takes out most of the major problem I normally have with flat-plane beat 'em ups (since they're sprites in a 3Dish landscape I always have a hard time telling how far up and down the hit boxes reach).

Anyway, started playing this morning and finished tonight, it was way too easy on Normal and I should've known better. Time to earn some characters and pump that difficulty up, though I'm not sure if I should try Hard and go right for Super Hard.

Visual Boy Advance emulates the CPU at the wrong speed. ROM whores are bitching about the slowdown. It does this on other games as well (Astro Boy, Tales of Phantasia...)

I still think it's ironic given how bad the slowdown was in the first.

so the local Gamestop got this in last Wednesday, ..along with Gradius V.

eh, I guess this was common knowledge.
For some reason I had it in mind that Guardian Heroes wasn't being released until October.

This thread sucks - so much derision for a game that I'm enjoying immensely.
Advance Guardian Heroes captures the feel of the Saturn original very well, ...granted I've only played for an hour or two.

It really seems that everyone set themselves up to hate on a Treasure game months before anyone even played it. In another thread PepsiManJo says something about Gradius and Treasure rocks his balls as long as he disregards Advance Guardian Heroes. WTF?!, this game is great. I'm loving it.
I'm failing to see what's so very wrong with the graphics. Oh, you don't like the backgrounds?,.. holy freakin' knit-picking. The graphics capture the look and feel of the Saturn game very well. Crap, most of the enemies I've encountered appear to be exact replicas of the Saturn sprites.
And the music is perfect. Much more action oriented than Astro Boy's bgm

This game rocks my Knuts, boyyeees!

Well I know one more person Ill never listen to for opinions.
