Default look or inverted?

Inverted. Why?

Because when you need to look up in the real world, you pull you head "back" and look up. To look down, you lean your head "forward".

I voted for inverted, but if people claim that they play Halo better with normal settings, then I might be tempted to try it out to see if they are right.

On console it shifts around for me all the time and I never have any clue why, it's not even a clear-cut "inverted for flying, non-inverted without" like it used to be. Some games I prefer inverted for flying and sometimes I don't (though I generally prefer inverted), some FPS' on console I prefer inverted and some I don't, sometimes I can play a game either way and not mind, and sometimes both bug me. I have no idea what's wrong with me.

In FPSes, though, you're doing more than simply looking up and down. You're using very precise mouse movements. I've never heard of a good FPS player that uses inverted mouse look. They probably exist, but if you suck at FPSes and you use invert, just try regular.

Does this opinion only refer to PC players, or does it also apply to console players?

I'd say mainly just PC, I guess to a lesser extent consoles. But I suck at console FPSes, so I don't think I'd really be qualified to hand out advice on them.

Certainly on the PC we all use the mouse every day just on the desktop. And I think that definitely makes it much more natural for most people to use regular mouse-look in FPSes. But there's really no equivalent "desktop" controller action on the console (except maybe going through menus).

In conclusion, man I don't know. Use whatever you want.

Whatever the settings are on I pick up and play. I don't blame my suckiness on 'badly configured' controls. I'm so awesome I transcend them, and it's sad that none of you will know this level of power.

On a mouse doesn't matter, I suck with that configuration anyway.

But your not a real pilot if you don't invert, your just some wannabe.
