I'm not getting rid of my collection now or ever (if I can help it). As a gamer, I see myself as part collector. I've gone out and physically hunted for some of these titles, and even if I don't actively play them, the memory they invoke when I look at them is well worth keeping them around.
The same with my old PS1 games, I could never part with most of them because looking at them, holding them, and playing them invokes memories of my past that I remember fondly.
Even though a lot of my gaming stuff holds fond memories, Ive detatched myself from them for the most part. I could sell any part of my collection and not care.
Word. I'm always looking to trim down my library to make room for new stuff. I'd unload my entire NES collection but as long as there's hope for an eventual RGB solution, I'll hang onto it. Plus, I like the way it looks on my shelf.Quote:

Thankfully, I've gotten out of the "collecting" mentality. I now have the ability to sell games! While of course I don't get what I pay for them, I consider the difference a "rental fee", and don't think too much about it. I have hardly any games anymore, in fact, I may just scale down to simply my XBOX, GBA, and SNES (strictly for nostalgic purposes). The XBOX is all I play anymore.
I still keep the boxes to everything, though, because why throw out the extra $10-$20+ you can get if you have the space to keep them?

It surprises me how unattached a lot of us are to our games. Do a lot of our attitudes on this topic really differ that much from those of the "mainstream" gamers we sometimes look down upon? You know, the ones who'll trade in the game they bought six months ago to go toward the next one.
I learned this the hard way. Used to love games since I was a kid, then got out of gaming 2 years ago, and sold my 64 to help a friend when money was low. Now that I'm back into video games I really regret selling my 64, it had a ton of great games I ache to play right about now. I've learned my lesson, no mo selling for me.Quote:
