I feel the exact same way. I blame the fact that after the first one, its really hard to improve visually. Save the suit that shines alot more then it did before and the light/dark premise, there's not that much that keeps us interested. It's still a Prime (haha, pun) game for the holiday season. I just dont feel like playing it now, mostly due to it looking all the same.Quote:

"More of the same" is perfect for me. The mechanics of Prime but a totally new planet to explore - that's what I wanted from the start. Some reviews are calling Echoes the Gamecube's best-looking game. Some even say it's better than the first Prime, because the structure is tighter.
The light/dark aspect may have been done before, but I'm sure it will add a creepy tone to the already haunting sense of isolation, and make the light a welcome sight.
Echoes is reportedly about the same length, has more challenge in combat and puzzles, and has a soundtrack that's the same quality as before. I never had a problem with the controls, so I'm glad they weren't changed. It's part of what makes Prime unique.
Almost all early reports state that Retro has refined the brilliant formula of Metroid Prime. They may not have strayed from the design too much, but why should they when Metroid Prime is one of the most well-designed games ever released?
What's not to be excited about?
Taking a break for a while (my eyes are bleeding) but this game fucking rocks. Love the menu interface, the atmosphere, music. Very creepy. Gameplay is as tight as ever. Only about an hour or two in.
I played about 2 minutes of this game, and it's definitely cool. The scanner has changed so entire objects glow colors and not just little parts. Otherwise all I have to say so far is...I walked up to a hole in the floor, and as I approached, it automatically looked down naturally. Very cool. Will play for longer than 2 minutes tonight.
Okay it's time to make some love to this game...if I can get my intense HL2 jealousy out of my mind, and put aside the anger that I only have about 3 hours left to play it.
I'm waiting on your impressions to see if I was wrong, or right on the money.
Post them up sometime tonight, because i'm trading in a shitload of games tommorrow and I want to know if this is something I should consider, or if I was right in writing it off completely.
Bah. In the early morning. I'm going to play til I pass out on the couch. Don't know how far I'll get either, it is a 20 hour adventure. Specifically in deducing how gimmicky the light-dark thing is.
I got it tonight too...It's great so far. Has a different feel to it than MP. It's a lot more mysterious. Very cool, man. The music is awesome in Surround mode...there's an area where I thought there was an actual cricket in my room =)
The frickin' particle engine rules! The way the Ing turn into dark puddles and flow all over the landscape is super smooth. The fire and smoke looks great too.
I gotta work tomorrow or I'd play this all night. I've beaten the first boss in the dark world so far.
you guys are getting me super pumped up for this game. My local store should be getting in a day or two, that's pefect timing because i have one more star left in Paper Mario 2 before i switch to Metroid Prime 2 :)
