Asian tofu dishes are usually really awesome. Next time you guys go to a Vietnamese place order sesame chicken, but ask them to substitute chicken with tofu. It somehow tastes better.
I've tried it. When I went with a friend to visit his mother (who is Japanese) in Chicago a year ago, she offered us some at dinner. My friend passed on it. I went for it, being curious to try something new. At first I thought it smelled a tad funny- but IMO it's not bad when wrapped up with rice in seaweed.Quote:

If I had to guess, I'd say that is surely an MSG (monosodium glutamate) reaction.Quote:

mmmmmmm Fuck it.
I'm going to have more Fake chinese take out, left over from dinner...
Nah, those are just my favorites. I have tried many many different types of Asian food. Hell, there was hardly a thing I wouldn't have liked to try at the Japanese grocery store in Seatle.Quote:

One highlight of this Japanese grocery store is the sushi starting at $1 a piece- get 15 or more and it's 80c a piece. I bought a load of green tea and various Japanese snacks (rice crackers, Pocky, etc) while there.
Other stuff of note includes a Japanese toy shop, liquor store, bookstore, and appliances.
Yes! I have a lot of family on the north shore, and I used to spend months at a time out there. I had been there quite a few times when it was Yaohan, they had a nice selection of j-rock CDs at the time. Good stuff.Quote:

I was curious if they were still open, I haven't been out that way in a while now. I think they're in Schaumburg. I remember they had a neon "Ultra 64" logo sign in their store that I always coveted, hah.
