I'm not convinced that Tetsuya Nomura can make good designs anymore, and I'm not convinced that Square can actually make good games anymore, but I'm really hoping they prove me wrong this time.
I barely remember actually playing the first. I remember that it was fairly funny and pretty cool in all the designs and dialogue, but I think the game itself was only decent and I seem to recall one area just being really annoying. For some reason I think it wasn't interesting enough for me to care about finishing it (I think I stopped playing at the beginning of the final area or something), but maybe I just got distracted by something else. In any case, it suprises me to see so much love for it.
As for the sequel, the screenshots all look like it's a Capcom game. Kinda looks like they were working on a Megaman Legends 3, scrapped it halfway through, and then decided to make a different sequel with what they had already done (kinda like how DMC got made).
The review in EGM made me sad :( I was looking forward to this, like ALOT, but it sounds to be a disappointment..
GI made it sound good, and they gave it about the exact same reviews and critisism they gave the first one.
I like this game's look but the demo bored me. I don't mind repetitive beat 'em up style action if it's done well but in this game it's just dull.
:\ I need to try that demo out, because I'm really looking forward to this game.Quote:

I particularly liked the graphic trick of turning Musashi and the enemies into outlines when smoke obscured the action. It's a very cool visual touch. :)

I started this today and my feelings about the whole thing are mixed. On the one hand most of the things that made the first game good are back, but they're all messed with and in most cases crappier. I don't like that freeing people from fields no longer gives you magic power, I don't like that learning abilities now comes down to perfectly timed (with no on screen aid) square push right as an enemy hits you, I don't like the new camera; but most of all I don't like that Musashi now sounds like a girl making fun of the way a boy talks while her mouth is filled with cotton.
Actually, I take it all back, I'm not mixed on my feelings for this game, I'm just highly dissapointed. I'll keep playing, but I doubt when I finish the game I'll be happy that Square went ahead and made this as the sequal to the greatest game of all time.
I've heard it sucks and that saddens me.
