"Taito announced they will release PlayStation 2 remake of Falcom's classic action RPG Ys III: Wanderers from Ys, Y's IV: Mask of the Sun and Y's V. Y's III is scheduled to release in Japan sometimes this year, while the other two games will be released next year."

Pardon me for being dense, but what the Hell is so damned good about the Ys series?
I've never played one, nor have I ever heard anyone explain just what is so good about them. Story? Gameplay? WHAT?!
play the games and refrain from ever using that tone again.

In other news: Capcom has not yet announced Street Fighter 4, SOA plans to squash any 2D games planned for release on the PS2, and Square-Enix has just release a slew of games that have no chance in hell of being released in the U.S.Quote:

I own and have played through Ys 1+2 for the TurboDuo. What's the big deal? They were ok, in their way, and I don't regret the playing, but I really don't see why they've still got the following even today. I also played the SNES side-scrolling Ys, and once again am left wondering where the fan following comes from.

The initial appeal of the series was the animated cinematics and the soundtrack. The gameplay, particularly in the early installments, isn't that strong, but the series still stands as one of the best action rpg franchises around.
It seems likely that something with this many anime characters is a prime candidate for some otaku import house to bring over in collected form at some point. I think you'd find alot more people who want to play Y's than La Pucelle.
