In general, any girl I'm with needs to at least respect my interest in games, and a passing interest in a few girl-friendly titles is a big plus. Beyond that, having a girl who's really into games will always give you something to do, but it can become irritating to have to share your stuff with someone who is as or more into it than you. It's also important to be with someone that has a few divergent interests because sharing things you wouldn't have done alone helps you grow as a person.

Yup. You need to have things in common, but enough differences to keep things interesting.

I'm not desperate. I've only been single for a few months now. My point was that I've just never seen this. At all. I got constant slack over my gaming habits before, often getting into situations where I'd look like an asshole if I hung out with friends and *gasp* actually got to play something. While on the other hand she could do whatever.
Of course I've had friends that fit into this, but they're always just that. Friends. So really I was just saying that it would be great to enjoy something like that with a partner, simply because I never have. To be honest the entire idea of "girls like games" is pretty damn new to me. Maybe it's just where I live but that just doesn't happen here.

If she likes games, that's cool. If she doesn't, meh. All I care about is whether we have shit in common and if she has a sense of humour. Games are just a part of me, not the whole.

Me and my current boyfriend are really into gaming, and it's great! Between the both of us we have about 700 DVDs, two 27 inch TVs, two Xboxes, two Gamecubes, 1 PS2, two computers, two sound systems and a shit load of games. He is more into PC gaming than I am, but it beats calling the Dell people when my computer fucks up. Two geeks together is nothing short of awesome. No going to chick flicks, we both like action sci-fi movies, he actually finds Futurama funny, all the other guys I dated thought it was stupid. We have a room in our apartment just for games, which is cool because we can play split screen Halo and not have to worry about "screen looking". There are good looking girl gamers out there, you just have to look. I am not fat, or smelly or weird, I just love games!

I don't know that my romantic side and my nerdy side mix very well. I'm probably better off without a gamer girl. It's a total non-concern for me.

I never let them win, ever. Whenever we have a tourney with the squad and respective girlfriends I tend to whip their asses purposely to put them all in place. Either that, or I'll play a fighter with them and pretend I suck, until I have a hair of health left and beat them anyways, THAT really kills their self esteem. :D
