Need help on my gaming site...

Over the past couple months I've been actively programming and designing what I'd hope to be the next big gaming site. Now I know what you are saying.. 'There is no way you can beat IGN or Gamespot.' and you are 100% right.
The site I am programming is a database site similar or if not direct competition for GameFAQs.

Now the thing is, I want my site to be a lot more 'fun' and 'friendly' than good ole GF and I want people to use it and enjoy using it.
It works off pretty much the same basis as Gamefaqs in that you can browse games and get information on them, read users faqs and cheats etc. Users can also submit FAQs, Cheats and Reviews that they make to earn 'rubix' which is the site's money. This money can then be used to buy items from an item shop to show that you are great member.
My forum area features several unique areas such as the Wonder Falls, Tanters Cavern and the like. These areas are places where users can gain special items by doing certain tasks to unlock the hidden features of these areas. Say you buy the Sonic Shield at the item shop and you go to Wonder Falls. Now you would see a flash movie of a waterfall and some text saying stuff about the area. Say you start clicking on the falls because you say a shimmer or something, so you click and it brings you to a hidden page where an elf or something asks you for your Sonic Shield. So you hand it over and receive a new item - the TNL jacket or something unique.

That's the base of my site idea so far and I have programmed a slew of the site already. It's just I keep running into questions that I ask myself.
These being, am I using the right colours? This could potentially be a huge site, I want people to enjoy it. Is my design simple enough? etc.

So take a look at what I have so far and tell me what you'd like to see or what you think of the colours.

The registration is offline as of now because the site isn't finished. My backend to the site controls a couple things like this. I can turn the forums on/off or the registration on/off easily. Anyways, I'm unsure whether to start a new design/colour scheme or to keep the one I have or to do something else.

So what do you say?

I like the look of it, but I'm not sure if the internet needs yet another GameFAQs-ish site.

There basically is only 1 Gamefaqs. I mean their might be sites that are *similar* to it, but a direct competitor ceases to exist.

(gamerankings could be considered something close to it, but it's still far off)

Also, I want my site to be more the 'nerd' haven.

Think of if IMDB combined with Gamefaqs into 1 site. I'm trying for that.

I'm also wishing to host some cartoons about gaming/nerd stuff for people to watch from the site too.

And I'll probably offer free hosting to any smaller '1 game' oriented websites.

Like 'Final Fantasy Fanatics' would get like bolt3.com/fff
or something.

Just one huge gaming site for all us nerds.

Today I changed a bit of the colours around and organized my cheats section a bit more. I also added the new fully functional Hints/Glitches section which comprises of a nice backend to authorize submissions.
