I really dig Legend of Mana. So if this is at all like that, I'm down.

As for the 2D/3D thing...

I could live with either, but it will always be my little dream to see someone develop a game with a balls-to-the-wall approach to making 2D as big-budget and flourished as 3D. Except it won't, because it's easier to do it in 3D.
