You know there's a speed setting, right? It can be as fast as you like.Quote:

-Throwing the ball is still way too easy. You can still throw into even triple coverage and come out a winner. That was my biggest gripe about last years game so it sucks to see that it's the same.
I have no idea what you're trying to say there. If you want more guys hitting a runner at the line, then send blitzers, or choose a team that has linebackers with quicker reactions, or set up low zones for your corners, or pinch the LBs, or set hot blitzes with the safeties, or just a formation with more guys at the line. If anything, running is a little more difficult than real life this year.Quote:
-Why are defenders so stupid? Unlike say, NCAA 2005, it dosen't feel as if defenders do anything to help you out while running the ball. There SHOULD be someone there with you in the begining and yes, he is there, but he dosen't do much in the way of helping you, but more the defensive line. Aggrivating..
You're on acid. From gamespot's review :Quote:
-The graphics that were touted are uhhh...nothing too great. In fact, last years game ran smoother as when they go into special animations the game starts takes a huge FPS hit. Lame..
"Hands down, flat out, undeniably, inarguably, this is the best-looking football game ever made. And then there's the animation. Never has a football game looked as parallel to the real game as ESPN NFL 2K5. The tackles, the catches, the throws, the blocks, the interceptions... Every single aspect of the on-the-field action--all of it--looks completely awesome. Watch a safety jump up for an interception, or check out linemen on opposite sides of the ball grappling with one another, or catch a glimpse of a running back as he spins past a would-be tackler. Try to recall a game that captured these visual aesthetics better. You might as well just give up, because you won't be able to."
He's right, you're wrong.
It's just fine - use it when the defender's still a step or two away, like in real life. It works best when the defender's coming in at an angle. If they're coming straight at you and you have no room, use the shoulder charge or spin move. That's what they're there for - the juke isn't and shouldn't be a catch-all beat everyone move.Quote:
-The juke is still entirely worthless. It's still too slow and dosen't have enough range on it to make it worth considering in a pinch.
Presentation is alot different from last year. There are like 160 new cutscenes, more elements onfield - sideline players, cameramen, etc. They've modelled overhead shots of each city. You can set music form your hard drive to play at certain moments of the game - you could have the Spice Girls blaring whenever you score if you really wanted to. You can even control and customize what kind of touchdown celebrations your players perform. There are more types of sky backgrounds and the lighting is alot more impressive - play during a sunset, it's eerie. They've added onfield player "interviews", entire episodes of sportscenter you can watch during franchise mode, full replays at halftime at after the game. Since they're trying to model it after an ESPN tv broadcast, there's only so much of it they can change stylistically. But I'd bet money I played alot more of last year's than you did, and I'll tell you now, they did alot to the presentation over 2K4.Quote:
-Presentation is practically identical to last years game with the exception of the hilariously 3-D Chris Berman. Same cuts, same pictures, just generally the same. Even some of the commentary is the same.
Congratulations, you just gave it the lowest rating on the internet. Maybe I'm crazy, but perhaps people should go with what Operation Sports or Gamespot say.Quote:
If I had to rate it, I would say 7/10. Thats about on par with last years game.
We all know that could never happen in real life. It's not like most QBs average 1-2 INTs per game or anything.Quote:
EDIT: Okay, maybe I jumped the gun on the "Interceptions are harder" point. Since this post I made 2 interceptions, one of them leading to an 87 yard return. Baaaaah~!!
I guess not, because it's alot harder on all star.Quote:
I just played 2 quarters of All-Pro. Surprise, no difference..bleh =\ Then again, I never notice difficulty changes in sports games.

Yeah, I'd like to lower my score. This is $20 bucks because it's the exact same game as last year with some new animations and little features that don't directly effect the playing of Football.
- They added maximum tackling this year, and completely changed how tackling feels.
- New momentum physics - players can't cut turn on a dime anymore.
- Tons of new player animations, and a more complex physics model. Watch a fumble - see three players fall on the ball, and each one will fall differently depending on their relative position. Watch a DT sack a QB from behind, and it'll be completely different than if it was from the side or an angle or in front. When a player is tackled, momentum, relative defender size and angle & height of attack all determine how he goes down.
- They added QB evade moves.
- They streamlined setting up hotblitzes & hotroutes.
- They redid the AI entirely, and made it much smarter - it'll key in on tendencies, alter the defensive backfield with shifts & pinches more often, and it does a better job defending sideline to sideline without just destroying you. At the same time, things that should have an effect - play action, larger receivers able to get out of press coverage, pump fakes, rollouts - work far more smoothly.
- They altered the running game, changing entirely the way you break tackles, how often you can do it, and made it more intuitive to follow blocks and find seams in the line.
- They added a much deeper set of algorithms for each coach, and they actually follow real life situational tendencies and playcalling.
- Quarterbacks have far more variance in their throws - unless it's down the middle, Eli Manning won't throw the exact same ball as Brett Favre does - there will be far more balls that miss entirely, or are too low. Release point matters more. With the increased number of batted balls, you actually have to use passing lanes now, otherwise your QB may be forced to throw sidearm, which in turn will affect his accuracy. Rhythm and timing in the QB's dropback are also a factor this year.
- Morale, focus and leadership all affect onfield performance now. They didn't have those things before.
- Franchise mode has undergone a 100% overhaul, and is the deepest on the market - there are dozens and dozens of options. I can give my team a speech on wednesday, and decide whether its tone is happy or angry, if we'll have a team prayer, right down to whether I storm out at the end. I can make the assistant coaches watch game film to prepare, and what type of focus it'll have. You can have a player do pilates, or mountain bike to build leg strength, or rock climb or do bench press to improve upper body strength. Run the team through two a days, full or no pad scrimmages, or just give them the day off. And if I'm worried he's going to get arrested again, I can put Ray Lewis through Leadership & Sensitivity training. Every one of these things affects your team's abilities and morale.
- The VIP system is amazing, and does a remarkable job of recording players' tendencies. It keeps track of a ridiculous amount of stats, from what plays you call in certain situations to how often you perform defensive adjustments right down to how often you use the spin move instead of the juke or shoulder charge. Playing against a friend's profile is suprisingly close to actually playing them. So...
- What
- the
- heck
- are
- you
- talking about!?
Are we talking about the same game?Quote:
The graphics are worse than last year...The whole thing smacks of no effort
