I'm probably getting the ps2 one, and passing on the xbox live version.

Why?

Because Capcom writes such shitty netcode, that I can't imagine how much of a mess even attempting to play SF 3 will be. If Capcom somehow surprises me, and dosen't program total shit for their netcode, then i'll get it.

Yeah, one of my friends is pretty good, & we have been making sure to get at least one full evening of practice a week. All this is on the DC, but it will continue on the PS2.

yea, before I read your post I was going to mention that it seems people are being really hopeful and optimistic with regards to this game on XBL..

i find that hard to do in light of CVS and steel batallion..

It seems the rumor from my taiwanese friends is that guilty gear is actually running great online. Who knows, maybe there is a new age of online game programing. Or maybe arc systems are just better programers.

Yeah the netcode worries me greatly. SF:AE needs smooth netcode otherwise whats the point? I am wary on that point.

Well the thing is, even if you don't want Live, it's the same game on both platforms...for the same price...so the more who support the Xbox version the more chance there is that Live will continue to be developed and improved...plus it's saying to Xbox (who have been much kinder to 2-D stuff than Sony these days) that we want more of these kinds of games.

There is going to a point here where Live gets a lot better...it takes time, I'm atleast grateful that Xbox is taking the time to add that component...

If this was as simple as both games at the same time, I'd get the xbox version regardless, but I really want to pack up the DC and the ps2 will be out so... sorry Microsoft.

And I don't see how MS has been "much kinder" to 2d stuff than Sony has, both systems get about the same amount of 2d games.
