A national sales tax would be a tax cut for the rich, at least if it's done as a replacement for our current income tax. Sales taxes are regressive, meaning the poor pay a higher percentage of their income. So the rich would actually be paying a far less percentage of their income than they are currently (more than likely, anyway). I think regressive taxes are pretty stupid, as they are very often unproductive or counter-productive (the people that are supported by the tax dollars are paying the highest percentage of their income).

The scary thing about that article is that it seems so appealling to everyone. No income tax? Sounds great--I don't have to deal with forms, I get my whole paycheck, etc. But in practice, this would probably be just another way to pad the pockets of the rich. The least they could do is make it a flat tax.

I hate republicans, I just found out that taxpayers are paying over 30 million dollars for Reagans funeral
