im guessing he gets the sprite from an emulated screenshot or off a webpage where someone has already done so, then uses some image viewer that can zoom in and show each pixel's rgb value on a 0-255 scale, and then uses that info to redraw the sprite in fzero (which just happens to use 0-255 rgb for its color selection). not that complex or hard, just really time consuming and repetitive. did it way back and put my website logo on my custom ships, thankfully i had only 2 colors and a large spot where i could just use the fill tool.

Only catch is that the image has be under 60x60.
