Six dead over an Xbox?

... and I'm just saying I only like the idea of insta-killing in cases where guilt is beyond a shadow of a doubt, a fact. The case for baseball dude wouldn't apply even with conviction because it didn't fit the criteria.

Immediate execution without the hardest evidence one can have would be downright sloppy and just a little stupid. I'd never support that just because the cops DO fuck up.

OJ type DNA evidence, confession or several eyewitnesses is what I'm saying. Not a cop's hunch. That would be easy and fairly safe for people like baseball dude because he would still be eligible for appeal. The only reason it wouldn't fly is the morons on the left, not the morons on the police force. When I say "know", I'm saying "know". Not a conviction "beyond a reasonable doubt". There's a big gap between knowledge and belief.

because thats stupid. I'm all for putting these people down, but torturing them doesn't help anyone. Such senseless revenge just leaves you feeling hollow and leads to horrible guilt later in life that may end up consuming you. As cliched as that sounds, its true.

The death penalty should not be about punishment or justice, these people are sick and beyond help, and killing them is the most humane thing to do for all parties involved.

Anyone who does something like this has no conscious. They are a sociopath, or purely insane. This guy was an ex-convict who spent the last 8~10 years in jail. He probably got out and had no life, no job, no prospects. Just an XBOX to widdle his days away with. And he thought this girl screwed him over when she "stole" his most prized possesion (the xbox) and he just snapped, perhaps (though it seems there was some planning to this). He probably doesn't care if he goes to jail or gets the death penalty. What's surprising is he got those teenagers to help him. That's pretty weird, and fairly frightening, that you can just round up three 18 year olds to commit a grisly mass murder. Those guys were either dumb as shit or pure evil (or a combination of the two).

It'll all be explained on a made-for-TV movie, I'm sure. You know they're already writing the script.

Thats exactly why I dont believe in the death penalty. I dont think the state should have capital punishment, ever. I wouldnt even be in favor of it for, like Osama bin Laden or Saddam Hussein. I thought we as a society moved away from eye for an eye bullshit hundreds of years ago. The death penalty shuns reason and logic in favor of emotion and revenge. It's just awful policy.

Keeping murderers, child molestors and rapists alive because it makes you feel better in the morning is shunning reason and logic in favor of emotion.

I know it's nothing either of us is gonna find any common ground on, but I still can't get over how keeping them alive and eventually releasing some is good for anyone.

It does not make sense for an enlightened state, a state which grew out of the ideals that ours did, to be killing people. Especially with a justice system that's as flawed as ours, or any other, is. I find it terrifying that people routinely mock the justice system for all of its flaws yet have no qualms about giving it the right to kill people. It really is a scary thing.
