I was thinking about back when I was younger some kid at school said he and his mom spoke in tongues at church and how weird it was. Has anyone here ever seen something like this? So I did some searching hoping to find maybe a video online of someone doing this, but no luck so far.
I've seen it happen and I don't buy it at all. It's supposed to be capital-g God talking through the faithful but from what I can see it's just people putting on airs. I too am capable of letting the nonsense syllables flow and I don't need to mask with a belief that I'm touched by divinity. Call it a hunch but I'm fairly sure that when God talks through someone it's done in a way in which the message can be understood.
If anyone's had a better experience with people doing it, pipe up. The way I saw it set off every Bullshit alarm I had.

The Penticostal religion does this especially where I'm from in Louisiana. This is really freaky and some of these people practice this so much they actually believe they're really speaking for some god. Just a bunch of Jesus FREAKS that need something to believe in.Quote:

I pretty skeptical myself. I'm often at odds with religion, but I try to keep an open mind to anything. The guy that did this did not want to talk about it much. He just said words came out of him that made no sense and that it was hard to remember exactly what happened. Sounded rather strange to me.
I'll only be impressed if they manage to turn their heads around 180°.

I went to a black church - they did it ever so often.
I went to a white church. They don't do that - they just float around in the air for a while.
I'm agnostic too.
My theory on everything is that absolute truth is unattainable, since reality is based on perception.
:/ The biggest and nicest building in my town is a Penticostal church. Christain relgions have insanely big and fancy churches in the south, and probably other places in the U.S. Me and freinds joke about some of the crazzier ones, like how if life was like a rpg, I bet there would be chest and monsters all over said places.Quote:
