Trying something you used to be good at
I'm over at my friends house and his little brother just got a new skateboard but it's a little smaller then the normal ones. A few years ago I used to skateboard constantly so I figured I'd take him out in the street and show him some stuff. I was having some problems with the size of the board and decided to go with something that wouldn't be too dangerous as I didn't want to get all busted up. I was going for a fakie shove-it and almost had it landed when the last time I screwed it up hardcore. For those of you who don't know what it is, a fakie shove-it is when you ride the board backwards and spin it around 180 degrees (just the board, you remain in position) and land back on it, since the board was pretty small added with the fact that I pretty much suck now the last time I didn't even get the board to spin and landed right on the tail and slipped out. Normally you can land on your hands without injury, every now and then you might scrape up your hands and depending on how you land a broken or sprained wrist might be in order but since I was completely not expecting it I slipped and the first thing to hit the ground was my elbow which slid across the ground and got sliced pretty good in addition to it smacking the pavement pretty hard. So basically I just bruised my elbow, busted a bunch of skin and accomplished looking like an idiot and now I'm sitting here with a bloody paper towel on my elbow.
Anyone have any similar stories of trying things you used to be moderately skilled at?
