Not to mention the fact that the MVS usually were distributed with instruction cards, pop cards and flyers that contained said promotional artwork. MS2, MSX and MS3 were all promoted with realistic or semi-realistic artwork.

I much rather have generically good than uniquely bad. Besides, I'm not talking Metal Gear Solid-esque realistic. More like the semi-realistic style used in Mega Man Legends. I just don't think big heads and fat bodies translate really well in 3D.Quote:
Yes, because it really needs to look more generic.
I wasn't sure if AES and MVS were released simultaneously back then, I thought there was a decent stagger between the two.Quote:

Judging from how those shots look I don't think a change in proportion would save it.Quote:

I figured as much. It's not like they're pushing the envelope of well-made cartoon graphics right now, anyway.Quote:

Not much really. The MVS version of the games were usually released only a month or even a few weeks before the AES, since the software is essentially the same. Only the casing and packaging is different. The software merely reacts to the hardware and makes any proper changes that it needs to.Quote:

It sure as hell is (though one could argue in MSX's favor as well). But we all need to remember something- the SNK of old that made MS3 is dead and buried. SNKP is a totally different company with totally different dev teams and should not be spoken of in the same breath.Quote:

<Sigh> I'd rather play another 2d rehash. Only a rehash with good, unique level design.
I don't understand why they made contra: shattered soldier look like ass and keep it 2 dimensional. That's why I haven't played it much since i got it 3 years ago.
Neo Contra...just ugh.
This game makes me sad. On the inside.
Being a Contra baby, it always frustrated me that you couldn't shoot diagonally with your pistol. Maybe I'm just not l337. The games are still awesome.
Those Kingdom Heart screens are pimp.
If SNKP could get the game to look like that then maybe.......
