Daniel Elliott — the New Jersey man nabbed in a picturesque Mexican seaside village with his son's 14-year-old girlfriend — used to frolic in his back yard with the petite brunette, neighbors told The Post.
"It was really odd," a neighbor in Mantua, N.J., said of often seeing Elliott's son Ryan go indoors, while his girlfriend, Jessica Naylor, and his dad stayed in the back yard, romping around, jumping on a trampoline together, or playing volleyball.
Elliott, a wealthy, married 43-year-old computer whiz, was brought back to New Jersey by FBI (news - web sites) agents on Thursday night, a day after he was spotted sharing a meal with Jessica at a res taurant in the Yucatan port city of Progreso, where the two had been living in a beachfront house.
Elliott — who vanished with Jessica on Aug. 29 — was charged with "luring to commit the crime of en dangering the welfare of a child" and ordered held on $1 million bail pending grand-jury action, according to a spokesman for the Gloucester County prosecutor's office.
He faces up to 10 years in jail if found guilty.
Jessica, a 5-foot-1 soccer star and straight-A student from Woodbury, N.J., flew home on a different flight Thursday and immediately started instant-messaging her pals — telling them she "didn't go willingly."
"She said she was happy to be back," said her friend, Cherie Snyder, 14. "She said she missed all of us. And she said she didn't go willingly."
She said Jessica and Ryan — who are now high-school freshmen — began dating in the seventh grade.
Jessica vanished after telling her mom, Jackie Naylor, she was going to spend the night at a girlfriend's house.
It wasn't until police found computer messages between the teen and Elliott that they realized the two had gone off together.
Jessica's computer was a laptop Elliott had given her 18 months ago when she was hospitalized with a ruptured appendix.
Naylor has said she didn't realize Jessica was using the computer to say "anything more than, 'Hi, how are you doing?' " to Elliott.
She also said she was surprised to see Elliott attending Jessica's softball and soccer games without his son.
Yesterday morning, shortly before leaving her modest Woodbury house with her daughter, Naylor said the two hadn't discussed what happened during her time away.
"I really haven't asked her anything," she said. "If she wants to talk to me, she can come to me and tell me what she feels comfortable with."
She added that she's counting on professional help for her daughter. "We have people to talk to her to see how she's feeling. As much as I would like to say I'm qualified as a mother, I'm not qualified as a professional to help her."
She says she didn't go willingly…yeah, right. Guess you can't trust a 14 year old girl to be mature enough to stand by her man…so listen up, TNLer's- go for the 15 year olds.
