I hate these games because I buy them. Now I have metroid as an unlocked as part of the other games on my GBA, so that is out, though I may...just may get castlevania. I'm so effing lame. I'll probably wait til I can find it for 10 bucks
mostly though, it's good for the children, who need to play these
I will buy Castlevania. Considering I own a ton of the NES versions of the games they've rereleased so far, I don't like the idea of paying $20 for them again when I could get a flashcart and PocketNES and do the same thing for free. However, for now, it's convenient and I'd like to have a GBA version of CV. Metroid and Dr. Mario already exist as extras in GBA games I already own, and Zelda 2 was never one of my favorite games, so... yeah. This lineup is pretty worthless unless someone's really obsessive about collecting all of these.Quote:

Yeah, I hear you. When they first started releasing compilations of older games I thought it was cool. Now I wish they would limit it to rare hard to find games, rereleases with updated graphics and such,and/or full collections like MegaMan AC. This repackage 1 old fucking game and selling it for new prices shit has got to stop.
They're doing this now. Sequels are re-releases with improvements, essentially, and new storylines. MGS: Twin Snakes is a re-release only updated to be pretty. This will happen forever and you know.Quote:

Portability is icing on the cake. A lot of the older NES games, not from this group but the others, are good for quick, pick-up-and-go gameplay. Like Ice Climbers, which I did buy, and the only one I've bought so far. Though Zelda 1's getting bought to go in my GB player as I no longer have my golden original
I EDIT: thought it would be harder to rerelease games from today.
A common strain of these rereleases, and the collections, is they are mostly 2d games. early 3d games have pretty terrible graphics, and incomplete gameplay, and people are reluctant to play them in favor of more complete sequels, or other, newer games in that category.
Edit: Twin snakes proves me wrong. They can re-release whatever they want when they want. Oops.
Bring me Dungeon Keeper 3! Rather a sequel than a re-release.
...When do you think square will release FF: The Ultimate Collection?
If I can get them for $10-$15 apiece, then 'Vania and Metroid will be mine.
At least not for TWENTY EFFING DOLLARS. That's insane.Quote:

The set was supposed to stop in Japan after 30 games, but it's done so good Nintendo is looking for other games to bring out now.
i'll get Zelda II when the price drops.
