how is it a cop-out? the psp is a portable game system and somewhat of an all in one media device. the ds isnt. two different markets. i dont see where the cop-out is.

They're going to have overlap in the portable gaming market, obviously. It's less two different markets than it is sharing one, and then the PSP attracting folks from another market into it.

how so, didnt the psx only have a small run and only in japan at that? i know it was supposed to come out here via the playstation online store, but until something is released worldwide in a more accessable and marketed way, i dont see how low sales could be a blemish.

btw, i thought it sold well despite them stripping most of the features out.

right so theyre still not going straight for the portable gaming market like the ds is. which is what their press release stated. so again how is what they said a cop-out?

The PSX tanked hardcore in Japan, that's why there was, rightfully, never any talk of bringing it over here.

i remember finding a page at one time to pre-order one at playstation.com. cant find it now tho :(

Thats what theyre trying to do though. Theyre not trying to target the kids that Nintendo sells the Game Boy Advance to, theyre trying to target adults.

Keep in mind that this was exactly the same thing that they did with the PlayStation.
