True. But Playstation also gobbled up the kiddie space left by the esoteric Saturn and the heap-of-shit N64. I don't see Nintendo losing that market with the DS because they might as well go back to selling playing cards if they do.

Maybe we'll get games with a little battery meter in the corner like MMOs and ping counters so that we're not surprised when some games use up twice as much juice. Perhaps I should just wait for the PSPSP that has an improved battery.

Or get the PSPlayer, something I undoubtedly believe will be an add-on to the PS3. Though I've never known Sony to be the add-on type. It's more Nintendo's territory.

Sony didn't do shit to promote the PSX didn't they? I thought that that was some sort of market experiment thing so of course it probably didn't do well.

What makes anyone think that people will actually play the PSP outside the home?

Why would I take a $350 handheld with me everywhere I went, risking damage or theft at every turn? If people will mug you for an iPod why not for a PSP?

Sony *can* screw up (betamax, memorystick, PDAs, netmd) and they've gone too long without doing so in the console market.

Eh, PSP will do well despite battery life if it launches with a FFVII spinoff. With all the fanboys out there you can put the FFVII logo on cow bile and it would sell.

The PSX (PS2-DVD Recorder Hybrid) failed so hard that the PSX (PlayStation) gets to keep its acronym.

I want a PSP, but I REFUSE to believe Sony is retarded enought to put a handheld on the market with a battery life that ranges from 2 hours to 10. I think the reason they haven't announced official ANYTHING yet is because they're still working behind the scenes to make sure this thing was a success.

*sigh* Both Nintendo AND Sony rushed in to making new handhelds before the end of the year, and it looks like we are going to be picking up the pieces. I think the PSP is a little ahead of it's time, and in this day and age Li-ion batteries just can't cut it, yet. I'm willing to wait a few years for a PSP that is Ps2 quality and has 10 hours of play time sturdy, and I'm willing to wait a couple years to have a DS that won't have shitty games rushed out the door to meet the holiday deadline.
