What they actually said is if Capcom Fighting Jam does well, they'll consider doing more 2D fighters, but I believe they already let go of pretty much everyone who could do 2D sprites. They might do something similar to the cell-shaded style of 2D Naruto games.

I think a 3D version could be done using an engine similar to KOF: MI, but I think it's more likely for them to drag out the Capcom All-Stars engine and tool around with that some more.

I'm a huge Darkstalkers fan, but I don't have much faith when it comes to fighters in Capcom these days.
