Unless you explicitly tell the Board of Elections that you are moving to another address (via writing a letter), they have no way of knowing if you moved from where you originally registered.

Even if you registered in another state and write down the address of where you were previously registered, there is no system in place (I think) that lets different Board of Elections communicate with each other about a registered voter moving. I don't believe the Board of Elections will remove your name if you fill out a Change of Address form with the U.S. Postal Office (I could be wrong about this).

That's why your brother's name is still in the records.

I was asked for my ID when I went to vote, but noticed that other registered voters on the list were not required to show their IDs because they didn't have the "ID Required" watermark under their names. It's probably because I registered in New Jersey earlier this year.

I, like Michael Moore, am registered in two states. New Jersey and California (he's registered in New York and Michigan). I wanted to do absentee for NJ this time around, but I was lazy and didnt get the forms out in time so I voted officially in California (LA County). I imagine this sort of thing is quite common, and ethically challenged people abuse it quite a bit, Im sure. They asked for my ID here and I produced my NJ one, with my NJ address, and that was quite sufficient. I didnt have to prove my address here or anything.

With an election this close, I dont like any of this. When I switched my DL to California, they forced me to surrender my NJ one, and when I switched it back, I had to surrender my California one. Hopefully, though, fraud will be about the same on both sides so it will even out.

Hmm, I just handed the volunteers my registration card and my ID right off the bat, but that does seem kind of lax for them not to ask for it.

Did any of you guys vote absentee this year? My girlfriend voted absentee and got her ballot in the mail yesterday. That just seemed really late to me. If she popped it in the mail this afternoon would it get to where it needs to go in time to count?

I used my Michigan DL as ID to vote in PA - I could have voted in MI if I wanted to. It's pretty easy to game the system still, it seems.

Both my ID and registration were at the wrong address but other then that my vote was clean. I voted around 5:30 PM, Republican across the board in PA.

So far Bush is winning 34-3 according to ABC but there's a lot more states to go for and it will be very close.

Also, the Redskins thing, I believe that the incumbent has always won when the Red Soxs won the playoffs or the World Sieries if I'm correct, so one of those superstitions will be incorrect this time around :P

I got my Massachusetts absentee ballot over a week ago, and I signed up to recieve for at my college less than a week before that. According to Mass. laws at least, it has to be in by the end of today, so I'm surprised she got it so late. At least there are markings on the envelope to make sure that it gets where it's supposed to go quickly.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Packers/Reskins thing is 16 for 16, whereas the Red Soxs last World Series win before this year was in 1912. I thought that those were the only years they've won. So how can you consider that a superstition type thing?

The last year they won the Series was 1918, and they have a total of 6 with the latest win.
