I finally got around to picking up House of the Dead 2 for DC.
I've held off for so long because of all the bad reviews the diffirent light guns got for DC (inaccurate, couldnt be calibrated, etc).
I see this:

Light gun at my local Babbages/Eb for 19.99 new. Is this a pretty decent gun, or should I try something else?
Any thoughts or recommendations would be great!
My friend bought the Interact gun for House of the Dead 2 when that first came out. The gun worked fairly well but the trigger broke after 2 and a half weeks. Normal use too I might add. It may have been just that one gun, but I dunno....
I have had FOUR different Interact lightguns, and every last one broke in 2 and a half weeks. After #4 I gave up on interact as a whole and tried the Mad Katz one, which lasted a whole month before breaking.
Maybe you can get the japanese one for sale somewhere.
Edit: Though, all of the guns I had worked perfectly up until they didn't work at all. Calibration, Accuracy, you name it.

Kidenomo, about the best I can suggest you do is get on eBay my friend and get ahold of the import version of HotD2 with Sega's Official Light Gun which will only work on the Japanese version of the game. In other words, you need this:

ALL the 3rd party light guns released in the States are crap IMHO. If your really serious about getting the most you can out of the game, this is whatcha need my friend :)
There was a thread about light guns for HOTD2 about 2 months ago. Sorry, I can't find it in the archives.
Anyway, here's the breakdown:
1. Sega's official gun (for Import only) works well. Grab it if you can.
2. Interact's gun (domestic) largely sucks, but it's still about 1 million times better than playing with the pad. If that's all you can find, buy it.
3. There are several HK import guns which I've heard work well (yes, they're U.S. compatible, so I've heard).
4. Finally, the MadCatz. I suppose Contra (above) didn't like it. However, I have TWO of these guns that work like a charm. Period. They're smaller and more comfortable than the Interact versions; they're seemingly accurate; they have standard options (repeat and auto-fire lock); I've used them for over a year on HOTD2 and Confidential Mission and have NEVER had a problem with either.
In short, go buy two MadCatz guns (or 2 of any compatible gun) and start playing.

That sounds like probably the best solution.
What I'll probably end up doing is buying one of the Interact (just because I can find them everywhere locally) guns, if it turns out to be super crappy, I'll return it and go grab the import + gun.
