Great, I stopped going to Blockbuster because of their shitty policies on late fees and now they might buy Hollywood, which I am currently 10,000x happier with. Shit.

Damn, if the #2 video rental place is part of blockbuster, we'll basically have a monopoly (other than Netflix).

Hooray for stores that carry primarily new releases and only like 40 shitty catalog titles!

That 'return the video before 12:00 o' clock' deal is such a ploy.
I'll bet this that's where most of ther money comes from.

And Hollywood only charged pocket change(between a dollar and thirdy and two dollars) per day on late fees. If a Blockbuster retail is a day late, you'd be better of just calling the store and asking for a re-retail.

I haven't been to blockbuster in over a year or two cause of that late fee bull shit. Plus they would call me months later asking me where movies were that I turned in loooooooong ago. They pester the shit outta me with mails and calls and it turns out it was a computer/human error.

I haven't been to a video store in a long time, but around here I use a chain called Movie Gallery.

Yeah, I just signed up for a Hollywood account last night because I really like the MVP plan, it's $10 the first month and $15 every month after, unlimited rentals every month from the non-new release sections, 3 movies out at a time, 5 day rentals, and as soon as you return them, you can take out 3 more. Considering there's a Hollywood a couple of blocks up Boylston from me, I will be watching a mighty assload of movies as long as that Hollywood Video stays Hollywood Video.

I hope it does, really. Not a huge fan of Blockbuster, though I would still like to work at a Blockbuster so I can take advantage of that 5 free rentals every week deal, and delete the late fees of my family and friends discreetly. Whee.

Sadly, you can't do that. A friend of mine used to work there, but got fired because the computers log every transaction made and put it into the total for the day.

He stole a bunch of movies for me though :) You can always do that to make up for it.

Really? Wow. I had late fees routinely deleted for me by friends, and none of them ever got busted. I hope none of them got in trouble for it, but I think they'd have mentioned it, otherwise.

It is a ploy, and it works. I have no idea how anyone has trouble returning shit before noon when you're told that in at least four different places.

And if a Blockbuster rental is late, it's the same as if you did re-rent it. That's how it works.

Blockbuster charged me a $15 late fee a few years ago for returning Madden a couple of hours late. Never went back. Fuck Blockbuster.
