I bought an arcade cabinet

Okay...this was pure impulse buying at its finest.

It's an old cab, looks like it originally had pacman in it and now has some game I never heard of, Sky Soldiers. I saw that it was working, played it a bit, was pretty good for a vert shooter, and so went ahead and got it. I still can't believe it's sitting in my garage.

Anywho, what I wanted to know is what kind of main board does Pacman run on? MAME? I can't remember...plus, how much does a pacman board go for these days and what other types of games would work? I'm happy with Sky Soldiers, but I wanna exploit the fun that cabinets hold =)

If you don't mind sharing, how much did you pay for it? I'm just curious how much they go for (not that I'd be able to afford one, heh).

I only paid 75 bucks for the whole deal. Dunno if I got cheated, but hey...I've always wanted a piece of the arcades at home

Sky Soldiers is an SNK game and - I think - is JAMMA standard, which means you should be set up for a lot of games. klov.com is your friend, and be careful rooting around back of the monitor. Enough voltage stored there to fuse you to the ground.

Yes, Sky Soldiers is JAMMA, so that opens up basically the entire world of arcade gaming to you. Pac-Man isn't JAMMA, so you'd have to either build or buy a converter to play it. Personally, I wouldn't bother. There are far more interesting things to plug into that cab, with far less hassle (and there are many good ports of Pac-Man anyways).
