I thought Majora's Mask had a fairly compelling storyline, subtext and mythology actually. Especially for a Nintendo game, or a videogame at all for that matter.

majora's mask is the best 3d zelda game, in spite of the rough graphics. i loved the surreal touches and the shenmue-lite town. and unlike the wind waker, the side-quests were actually interesting and worthwhile.
True, although I found it the most poorly designed Zelda game to date when I played it back then. I still have the game for the day I give it another chance but I definitely found it much less enjoyable than other Zeldas despite being the coolest one theme-wise.Quote:

Honestly the stories in Zelda are built around the dungeons and world exploration. Theres only so much you can do when you want to explain the need to visit these dungeons in the Zelda world. As far as Zelda stories go MM was more complex than the norm but that hardly makes it one of the most compelling storylines for all videogames.
Like I said theres still a lot of work to be done especially in the writing department. We've got some really great ideas out there (Legacy of Kain, Metal Gear Solid, ect) but the writing mostly sucks. I enjoyed MM, I am in the minority on this one however.

XD I leave for more than a year, come back, and it's all the same. i forgot how much i love this place. If it wasn't for the hatred, it wouldn't be as lovable.
The new Zelda doesn't excite me, but so far i've liked all of 'em. :\ Wind Waker was my fav, with Majora being a close second. :\ Majora was a real bitch, difficulty-wise. Broke an N64 controller there.
Wind Waker would have been great if it had more content and less sailing.
Ahh...Half Life 2 was sooo good..Quote:

And personally I have no faith in Nintendo whatsoever to deliver a good, serious storyline and dialog.
Quasi-archaic English. "Spelt" is going the same way altogether as "Whom" and should be gone in a few decades.Quote:

But I think Nintendo gets it this time. They have to know that the Mario/Zelda/Metroid franchises maintaining their mystique is their only chance, and they're obviously aware people were underwhelmed by Wind Waker - ditching the WW engine when they'd planned to get 2 or 3 games out of it is proof of that. They can't afford to not hit it out of the park every time. I think they'll put major effort into making sure they do this one right, and in a way that has broad appeal.
