Derivative maybe, but at least Nintendo's secured the exact same teams to make their franchise versions. In Camelot's case, they secured the developer entirely (forcing Sony to start their own internal HSG team with a few Camelot expatriots).Quote:

Which is really the aim of their external collaberative R&D anyway, it's for filler releases (something N64 was severely lacking). Internal Nintendo R&D is what's producing new concepts like Pikmin, Wario Ware or Animal Crossing for the most part.
