Um yes... I'm somewhat ready - on Black Friday I'll be working 4 to 11 (4 to close basically) so I won't have it too bad, plus Borders doesn't do major sales that day anyway so I'm sort of in the clear, the main problem comes on fucking saturday when everyone trickles over to our store - I work that day from 10-6 so I'll have to deal with the pigmented assholes then... I'm mentally prepared, my plan is to ignore as many people as possible.
I went to Comp Usa today to buy printer ink cartridges, got in and out of there fast, and walked next door to Circuit City to check it out and holy fuck , a line from the registers wrapping all the way around the store... its not even black friday yet. And I was stuck in traffic for 20 minutes just to go 200 ft to the stop light! Annoying.... unless you have a death wish or HAVE to work, don't go out on Friday.
Did I mention I hate Thanksgiving...? Fuck this holiday.
I work that morning... in a mall, no less.
=/
just try to avoid getting stressed out and take as many breaks as you can - thats my advice after oh... 4 black fridays in a row now, often times i'll just go in the back stockroom just to take a people break for a minute - sometimes theres only so much social interaction you can handle in rapid succession.
After work today, about 5-10 miles worth of driving (cash my paycheck, roomate goes to mall to cash his, buy a few games, basically standard Friday stuff but early paychecks this week makes Friday on Wenseday) took around 1 1/2 hours, one stoplight (like you mentioned) took about 20 minutes, it was utterly ridiculous, I'm trying to stay off the roads on Friday because it'll probably be worse.Quote:

Of course, the fact that I don't go in until 1 oclock doesn't hurt things either.
I hated working retail sales during that upcoming day. I always got in trouble because I couldn't talk the people (the absolute cheapest fucking people in America, mind you) into spending any extra money on a service plan for their new shitty-ass $100 computer.
At least The Bux isn't participating in the madness, though I'm off that day anyway.
I work at Best Buy, but I close and will miss the enite 6 Hour Door Buster special, it will be super busy still when I am there but not the Blitz of opening.
May the force be with you.Quote:

Seriously.
I've got to work at the GStop at 7:30 in a mall. Big deal. You treat ppl cool, everything's fine. Plus, working videogame retail really isn't that bad...as long as your coworkers are cool.
