As I've said in that other place, I like the idea of a name that doesn't instantly lock things into gaming. But that's just me.

It's odd, because the first memory that comes to mind about you is sitting around with you, Gerald, and a few others on the GF Books side, and you guys were screwing around with the GameBoy camera and printer.

There was VG & CE (Video Games and Computer Entertainment) but, to my recollection, there's never been just a magazine called "Video Game".

There was a mag entitled "video games". It was totally different than "VG&CE".

I remember Video Games. Sometimes it was pretty good.

This whole thread has been alternately amazing and disheartening (and definitely a little bit heartening). I literally grew up reading the classic Die Hard GameFan -- forever shaping my views and attitude -- and I also hung out in #GF_Tavern during the height of GFO (as PJustus or nall-). I can't believe how many old staffers have come out of the woodwork to post those awesome recollections! You guys were like rockstars in my childhood mind. ;-)

I could dig for the print outs of the usenet transgressions, (usenet archive might have it) but Vic really went wild for a number of reasons. One, Nick didn't finish the U.S. version, and no defense from GF was given on this point, as Nick had called WD for hints on how to beat Borgan. Two, he didn't know enough Japanese to make substantial comments about the translation quality. Some drama ensued, Vic offered Japanese tests for Nick, Dave defended him and refused, and it was an amazing conflict at the time.

GameFan is my favorite gaming mag ever. Tons of good memories. Thanks for sharing guys.
