TOR is awesome, but I doubt you'll see it in English. But who knows, there could be a miracle! I think one problem is there is so much text in the game, and so much of it is voiced, I really don't know how they'd handle that in a localisation. It might just be too costly, and Namco doesn't think they'd make a profit. After all, they never released TOS in the USA on the PS2, and the US GC version of TOS was released by Nintendo.Quote:

If you're into importing older PS1 games, PLEASE do yourself a favor and buy Popolocrois I and II, if you haven't already played them. II is much better than I, but it's nice to play through I before II to get some of the inside jokes, and understand the characters better. Seriously, Popo II is one of the best RPGs ever, I had so much fun with that game. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll marvel at the gorgeous hand-drawn graphics, full voice, fun battle system, and charming music.

I win!
I decided to add some more short reviews (I'll be adding lots of this actually), as I'm usually too busy these days to invest time in writing longer reviews. Also, I've changed my rating system to 1-10, with +/- signs added for more detail. First game up: Galaxy Angel: Moonlit Lovers.

GALAXY ANGEL: MOONLIT LOVERS (JP PS2)
I was a big fan of the first Galaxy Angel game on the JP XBOX, and it seems others are as well since it is probably the rarest game (in terms of how many times you see it up for sale) among the entire Xbox catalog. Moonlit Lovers is the sequel, a port of the PC game of the same name, and while the battles have been upgraded and the story is pretty entertaining, the game is plagued by a ridiculous technical problem: the voices take 1-2 seconds to load up with each new text box. Over a long period of play-time, this becomes EXCRUCIATINGLY annoying. The game is fully voiced, but unfortunately Broccoli did not program the game correctly. I did play all the way through to the end, and the Anime cinemas are nice, the battles are fun, and the new character is interesting. However the overall agitation that comes with playing this game makes the whole experience a bit less than pleasurable. Recommended only to fans of the first who don't have a PC capable of running the JP PC version at a good speed (or don't have the JP WINDOWS installed, which is needed to play it).

RAIDEN III (JP PS2)
While I am very happy this game got a home port from the Type-X arcade hardware, as any new shmup on a home console is good for the genre, I was not overly impressed by the actual game itself. First, this is an excellent port: 60fps, lots of bonus modes, full TATE display support, short loading times, and lots of options. Moss and Taito did a great job in this respect, far better than I ever dreamed.
The game itself just never pulled me in though. It is very challenging, but I found the whole dynamic of killing enemies fast enough to get a multiplier from 1.0-2.0 paired with a very slow ship speed (to make said optimal multiplier harder to acheive), a frustrating combination. The bullets move fast in this game, and the enemies actually aim right at you whereever you are on the screen (moreso than in Cave games, for example), which gives the game a very adrenaline-rushing quality, and a very exciting feeling that it's actually YOU against all of THEM. However in the end I just never felt like picking this up again after about 4 days of play, and getting to the end of stage 4 on one credit. I think all shmup fans, and definitely all Raiden fans, SHOULD give this a try. I generally tire of shmups without a deep scoring system (like those found in Ikaruga and ESPGaluda) fairly quickly, so take this into consideration when you are thinking about picking this game up.

This is a very informative thread.. :-)
Tho I think I'll wait for the USA PSP version of Popolocrois, because i would really like to be able to read it :) (it's a combination/remake of Popolocrois 1 and 2 on japanese ps1 - USA PSP version comes out in November/December, can't remember which tho..)
Anyway great thread ^_^
