"Look, Apple charges $129.00 for OS X. They made a 5-machine license, but they don't police that crap."
Yeah, but people buy it...they're overpaying for their machines, so obviously money isn't an issue.

Theyre really not. Prices are comparable to similarly configured Dells or whatever, and then you got the software bundle.Quote:

I mean, yea, a fully built and software'd up Apple is a lot more money than a box you build from parts on Pricewatch and load a pirated OS and Office software on it... but come on. Thats not a fair comparison.
They're getting closer, but they're not there yet.
Apple:

Three PCI Slots
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra
64MB DDR video memory
56K internal modem
No display
1500 bucks
Dell:
2.8 GHz P4
512 MB RAM
80 GB SATA
CDRW/DVDRW DL

This is true, and its why more people are switching to Apple (or FireFox). But still, Microsoft spends a lot of money advertising their OS, and everyone knows about it, its ubiquitous, and its not like most people have the time or desire to keep up with the computer industry (I have a car but dont give a rat's ass about the car industry) and the going-ons of spyware and shit. Its not like Microsoft makes it obvious how insecure their OS is, either. Quite the opposite, in fact.Quote:

Microsoft sells an image with XP, the image that this OS will give you this amazing computing eXPerience, and I dont think a spyware-infested 2.4ghz computer that runs like a 400mhz one that sends your data all across the internet without you asking is an amazing computing eXPerience. Microsoft should be responsible.
And remember... while you might just say "dont use it"... they are a monopolist, and this is something that has been proven in court.
If you want to play games you have to use Windows. So I use Windows, even though I fucking hate it.Quote:

And that Dell comes with a CRT, which are pretty much given away anymore, and even if you paid more and switched it to an LCd, I'm willing to bet that you won't have a computer that is 2" thick and is almost nothing more than a monitor sitting there. And you don't have a suite of great software like iLife, and you have the Home version of XP which isn't as powerful as Mac OSX.Quote:
