I keep meaning to play Grim Fandango, can never find a good copy for a good price though.

I still hold that this is the best game in the series. None of the other games have puzzles that can touch it, and it actually manages to be charming without being obnoxious about it.Quote:

So this was actually good? I loved, loved the first Tomba. But then I saw early builds of Tomba! 2 at E3, it looked like ass, it played like ass (at that point), and I got scared off. I might have to look into it now.Quote:
Tomba! 2 - This game was so good.
Chrono Cross was seriously one of the best RPGs that a Japanese company has ever produced. I hated the artwork, and some of the character were really stupid to me, but the developers actually tried to push the RPG genre forward, opposed to what most Japanese companies do. And of course, people bitched because it wasn't the same old-same old, and the DragonBall fans bitched because it didn't have more characters that look just like every other character Toriyama has ever drawn.Quote:
Chrono Cross - My favorite RPG ever.
Seriously, Lunar is HUGE ASS. And what I played of Grandia wasn't much better.Quote:
The perfect sequel. And oh, best battle system ever. Fuck Grandia (seriously, that game is ass - and so is Lunar for that matter).
Chrono Cross had some of the best music I've heard in a game, and it still looks nice today. Tomba 2 is now down to $5 at Circuit City, shidoshi, definitely worth picking up. Some of the objectives in it are quite unique. I'd put JSRF above JGR in some ways, although between the two, JGR just edges it out, due to it being first, and having a better overall soundtrack, although I love Future's quite a bit as well, and prefer the streamlined play.
The Circuit City in my town closed. *cries*
It's available at Gamestop's site for the low, low price of only $31 - http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=933897
The next time I'm at CC, I'll see if they have any more copies, and if so, I'll get you one. 31 friggin dollars, good lord.
Oh, and I would probably put the first game's soundtrack over Future, but of course Future had...
SHUT UP AND LEARN TO EEEEEEEEEEEAT!!!!
I really liked Chrono Cross and I really liked Trigger before that. They're both really cool games, with awesome battles, a neat story, and some great music. Hell, right now I have my SNES hooked up and I'm playing Trigger, probably my seven or eighth New Game+ circuit, collecting tabs. I'll probably pick Cross back up again in a month or so. Really, the only games I can keep coming back to after all this time. The only other games I can keep picking up are Super Mario Kart for the SNES (because I'm unbeatable in battle mode), Saturn Bomberman, and Morrowind. I never understood the intense dislike of Chrono Cross.
If you cant play a game that was average looking in the year 2000, then you must have a real shitbox.Quote:

The addition of the mini-map made the entire game into a snoozer - just check the map, move a bit, check the map again to see what direction youre going, and get all the tags. It was fucking LAME.Quote:

The only thing JSRF has over JGR is the graphics. But even then thats not a big deal because JGR's are still amazing. JSRF is seriously the worst sequel ever. People were apparently turned off by JGR because they thought it was some sort of cartoony Tony Hawk thing, and so with JSRF they basically just upgraded the trick system and scaled everything back. It was horrible.
I never played the original. So I dunno.Quote:

I dont think Chrono Cross is perfect (probably does have too many characters, though this isnt a dealbreaker like detractors say it is, too much of story is crammed near the end, which does make the end a mindblowing experience *especially if you like trigger* but at the detriment of the beginning play), but its innovation and groundbreaking. Id take an imperfect but groundbreaking game over a smooth-as-baby's-butt but same-old game (like Xenosaga, or really just about any PS2 Jap RPG except for Dragon Quarter).Quote:

That was the worst shit ever. Nobody except Japanophiles like that garbage.Quote:
