The thing to keep in mind about the DS vs PSP debate is that the DS isn't the competition to the PSP. The DS is a sideshow, and Nintendo has been saying this since it was unveiled. Things like "this isn't the new Gameboy" and "third pillar" basically mean that this is an experiment. Personally, I think it's a fascinating one, although I wish it was more productive with the titles, but it's not the GBA successor. Saying the PSP crushes the DS is like saying the Patriots could crush the Yankees.

Well, I think the "third pillar" stuff is a crock of Nintendo shit, but agree with your other points. Nintendo is using the DS as a testing ground for a lot of things, as are developers. As gamers, nothing but good can come of this, as innovation will be bred no matter what. The system's lack of available titles is the key thing keeping me from getting the system now.

I'm still on the fence about the PSP. If I do get one, I'll definitally get that warrenty with it so I can trade it for a new one near the end of the warrenty cycle.
I really do want to play Luminess, Ridge Racer and Wipeout. :(

Yeah, that's my situation too. I'll probably end up waiting, but I'll blow my seperate savings on a bunch of smaller gifts to make me happy.

That's for you though, I am a Tony Hawk fanatic, so the thought of playing a REAL Tony Hawk game on a handheld, and not one of the piece of crap Iso GBA games is complete bliss to my ears.

You are kidding with that first statement, right?

While I think both the DS and the PSP will thrive, and while i think one can be pretty confident the GB 2 will wipe out any doubt of its brandname dominance, someone on the shmups board said it best: "It doesn't matter how much it costs, people will find a way to buy it." EB and gamestop, ect. will have trade in deals, people will just sell their old crap and get the bundle. And Sony will hype it to no end.

That said, I want a PSP for Coded Arms and Wipeout. More and more I see it's a beautiful looking handheld and is screaming for a widescreen Gradius. But I will be waiting many months after the U.S. launch until the price comes down and maybe a few problems like battery life are fixed.

It bugs me that some people shrug off the 5 hour battery life. EX: I work at least two 10 hour shifts a week and my handhelds are lifesavers for stress relief and idle time. I don't want to have to hook in the AC every time I'm halfway through my shift. Not all of our outlets are out of the way of where people can trip over the cord and yank my system down to the floor. And considering I will also be paying a bundle for every PSP game I get, buying extra battery sticks aint my kind 'o solution.
