No doubt, but there were probably a half dozen times I had to look at a walkthrough to have it tell me to do something I thought I already tried, but apparently didn't because I was rotared 10 degrees the wrong way. It was aggrevating.Quote:

MAME is and always will be the best computer entertainment program ever. I don't care that it isn't really a game by itself or that it isn't totally legit or whatever. It belongs at the top of any PC game list.
Stepmania should be on there too while we're at it. Throw in a couple of freeware shmups and Arkanoid clones as well.
I find the most entertaining stuff on the PC is rarely a "go to EB and pay $50 for a boxed game" type of game.
Not too bad of a list (aside from some anormaly). The only thing I strongly disagree with is Everquest. Yes, it is the most popular MMORPG ever but that doesn't mean it is any good. Asheron's call was alot better with monthly updates that keep things interesting, and a better combat engine. Of course, some of the later MMORPGs are probably better than EQ (like WoW), but I didn't play those so I can't say for sure.
You said it a lot better than I did. Another thing I noticed - Battlefield 1942 at #9? That is bizarre. And Baldur's Gate 2 > BG1.Quote:
It's like they sat a group of 15 yr olds in a room and asked them to produce thier favorite PC games of all time.

Anyways. I haven't bothered looking at the list becuase I know I'll hate it. I wonder how they decided this. Polled their staff perhaps for 50 games?
True, but I can understand why they have mostly ignored the '80s for this list. The IBM PC was a shitty gaming format pre-VGA compared to the Commodore, Atari and Apple formats of the time. A top computer games of all time(all formats) would be more interesting.Quote:

MDK was a real kickass title back in it's day, I would much rather have that on the list rather then tomb raider. :yuck:
