PSOne games that hold up well graphically.

I just put a few hours into Wipeout 3 in an attempt to get to appreciate it. While I still think it has the weakest visual and track design of the first three games, I like it quite a bit more than I did.

As for Saga Frontier 2... beautiful game, but absolutely crap otherwise (like every other Saga game).

I personally feel that RE2 & RE3 have actually aged alot better graphically than RECV did. I don't know why, but maybe it has to do with the fact that RE2's graphics are mainly pre-rendered, whereas in RECV, everything was rendered real-time.

The pre-rended backdrops in FF VII (and so on) also aged well. I guess one advantage to the use of pre-rendered backdrops is that they're less likely to age badly, although they can hamper a game at the time. Baten Kaitos makes great use of them, with more activity in them than I've seen before.

How has this thread gotten to five pages? The answer is that not a single 32-bit 3D game has aged in any way other than shitty.

Are you kidding? RECV, on Dreamcast, using a VGA box, looks awesome. I'm sure the PS2 and GC versions would too. True, the character models aren't the best, but everything's nice and detailed, and the framerate is nice and smooth. DC games, on the whole, look a million times better than anything 3D on PS1/N64/Saturn, and I don't think they should be grouped in with them.

Saga Frontier 2 is indeed beautiful. It's one of those games that makes me eternally greatful that I play in RGB. I'll actually have to play it through one of these days.

It's 3 with the first two games levels and craft but with all the nice things like technical good looks and great control that makes 3 really good.. and 3's soundtrack (which I like best, if only for DJ Sasha's Xpander). It's PAL only, best to emulate.

Donkey Kong Country

DKC was on the PSOne? Hot damn. That's actually a great example of an even older game aging well. The sky transitions in the first level are stunning now, and the game is still fun as well.
